Lipi (লিপি, Bengali for “script”) is a lightweight desktop dictation app. Press Alt+R, speak, and press it again. Lipi transcribes your voice, can polish the wording, and pastes the text into the window you were using.
What it does
Local or cloud speech
Run Whisper on your machine with no internet, or send audio to a cloud endpoint such as Groq, OpenAI, or Cloudflare Workers AI.
Optional AI polish
Fix grammar, change tone, summarize, or turn speech into bullets. Prompts are Markdown files you can edit, and the model can be local or remote.
Notes stay on your computer
History is stored in SQLite on your machine. Nothing is sent out unless you choose a cloud speech or language model.
